We are a growing community of scholars from around the world who are interested in studying narratives, particularly myths – not as texts but as the narrative material in or behind texts, images, movies, plays and pantomimes etc.

The new field of research known as hylistics is interdisciplinary in nature and has meanwhile expanded to include the analysis of event sequences in general.

It has its origins in disciplines concerned with the study of ancient cultures but has since been adopted and applied beyond the boundaries of these disciplines. To date, research contributions have been made in the disciplines of Ancient History, Ancient Near Eastern Studies, Classics (Ancient Greek and Latin Studies), Digital Humanities, Egyptology, New Testament Studies, Old Testament Studies, Patristics and Russian Studies.
