One of the main differences between the methods of hylistics and other methods such as literary studies is that hylistics is not limited to the study of narratives in texts, but can also be applied to narratives in other media forms such as images, films, etc.
Ultimately, it turned out that hylistics can be used to analyse any kind of event or change of state, including, for example, the analysis of rituals; the further development and expansion of this new field of research is still ongoing.
Furthermore, hylistics is not limited to the analysis of specific types of narratives such as myths, but rather to the analysis of narratives of any genre, ultimately also to modern “myths” or narratives in the sense of Barthes, even to political slogans (such as “Make America Great Again”).
